Invest in ISAs On the Go with These Mobile Platforms

ISAs are an accessible investment option, accommodating low minimum investments and exempting the investor from paying tax on returns for contributions of up to £20,000 in a given tax year.*

ISA investment platforms serve as a helpful guide, allowing users to capitalise on auto-invest options, as well as providing access to mobile-friendly apps to simplify the investment process. These apps facilitate investment on the go, give users the opportunity to keep tabs of their products, and create a space to learn before making more hands-on investment decisions in the future.

ISA Investing Through Online Platforms and Apps

The following apps and online platforms allow users to invest in specific ISA types. Each includes its own minimum investment amount, possible management fees, as well as varying rates of possible return according to the investment terms advertised.

Kuflink

Kuflink currently offers three investment products, one of which specialises in IF-ISAs. Starting with a minimum investment amount of £100, the IF-ISA product offers potential returns on a sliding scale depending on the commitment period. Expected returns are 5%pa for a 1 year term, 6.1%pa for a 3 year term and 7%pa for a 5 year term*.

The company doesn’t charge any platform or investment fees, with the exception of a £35 administration fee for transferring an IF-ISA from another provider to them. Kuflink simplifies investing in an IF-ISA or property opportunities through their mobile-friendly online portal, and the team is also developing an app for iOS and Android.

Nutmeg

Nutmeg provides stocks & shares, lifetime and junior ISA products to the market, with a minimum investment amount of £100. Rather than offering fixed term investments, users select an investment style, choosing between “fixed allocation”, “fully managed” or “socially responsible”. Possible returns are not explicitly stated, though a track record of returns for each product is shared on their website for investors doing due diligence.

The company charges annual management fees on their products, anywhere between 0.45% to 0.75% up to the first £100,000, and 0.25% to 0.35% for contributions beyond that. These fees vary depending on the investment style. Nutmeg has a free app for iOS and Android, to help make managing the investment process easier for everyone.

Freetrade

As its name suggests, Freetrade predominantly focuses on free trading. In terms of ISA investments, it offers a stocks & shares option. No minimum investment amount is set for this particular product. Freetrade does however charge a flat fee of £3 per month to hold an ISA investment account on their platform.

Trading and outgoing transfers are free of charge, and can be done via their app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. At a glance, it’s clear that this company offers a less rigid approach to ISA investing, albeit that they are subsequently also less transparent about specific expected returns.

Wealthsimple

Similarly to others, Wealthsimple offers a stocks & shares ISA that doesn’t require a minimum investment amount. The company offers two packages: “Basic” (involving contributions between £0 and £100,000) and “Black” (for anything above that). Annual fees are structured according to the type of account opened.

For Basic accounts, 0.7% management fees apply, while Black accounts incur fees of 0.5%. Fund fees average at 0.18% for either. Expected rates of return vary, and are not explicitly stated. Utilising this platform to its potential includes downloading its apps, providing investors with direct access to customer support.

Moneyfarm

Moneyfarm also offers a stocks & shares ISA which does not require a minimum investment amount through the use of an app. Their app provides a starter portfolio based on how much the user knows about investment, which can be helpful to first-timers.

Management fees vary depending on the amount invested. Expect to pay 0.75% on the first £10,000, with a sliding scale peaking at 0.35% for anything over £10,000. Funding fees are fairly low, at 0.2%. Moneyfarms’s lowest risk portfolio (P1) has yielded returns of 8.4% pa in the past four years*.

Tech Savvy Investment

In 2020, investors are spoiled for choice when it comes to gaining access to mobile platforms fit for on-the-go investment in ISAs.

The companies on our list each help investors gain easy access to the ISA products and provide them with an opportunity to see data related to fund performance at the touch of a fingertip.

Tech savvy investment has never been easier.
